TIME MACHINE FESTIVAL 2009: Mighty Fairladys

By in 07-04-2009 12:30 am

You may recall that a couple of weeks ago, I posted this panorama shot of a Z meeting at Fuji Speedway. It was at the “Time Machine Festival”, a two day event that featured decades worth of fast cars from all over the world, which ranged from daily drivers to proper race machines.

The weather was pretty nasty all day, but it was still worth walking around in the driving rain to see what had come out to play. If it wasn’t already obvious, Fairladys were out there in force, so this post is dedicated to Nissan’s Z car.

WEEKEND EDITION: Tokyo Auto Salon 2009 Part II

By in 11-01-2009 12:30 am

JZX100, Mark II, BN Sports, 19/20 stagger.

If you’re still wondering why I didn’t take a proper camera to Auto Salon, it’s because I was helping out Charles Kha and Mark Pakula from Australia’s Autosalon magazine (no relation to the Japanese show, but related to the Australian show), so it would be a conflict of interest if I posted a whole lot of high-resolution photos. Don’t disappoint them, go check out their coverage.

However, having a cameraphone handy meant at least a few snaps were taken. Prepare for some low-resolution goodness.

By in 07-10-2008 10:22 pm

While Toyota was firing up their more prestigious Formula cars opposite the Nissan stand, the people’s favourite Skylines easily drew a crowd with the Nissan team’s comprehensive exhibition.

Even though this Hakosuka is worth about as much as a new BMW M6, there were no barriers keeping you from getting right up close. I saw at least a couple of people walk past it and brush the buckles of their backpacks against it though.

SHOW: Motorsport Japan 2008

By in 06-10-2008 7:20 am

Everyone in the world of automotive fandom has some sort of secret fantasy they would wish for if a genie popped out of the oil bottle. Racing disciples might like to go back in time and see a historic race win or famous circuit duel, old-school fans might dream of finding their model of choice wrapped in a plastic bubble with less than five kilometres on the dial, but I’ve always had one very specific automotive fantasy, and it was well and truly fulfilled last Saturday.

I saw a 787B doing burnouts.
