ORANGE SIDE UP: 2011 AE86 Matsuri N2 crash video

By in 14-12-2011 2:44 pm

For those who follow the Noriyaro Facebook page, you would have noticed a few pics live-posted from the AE86 Matsuri last weekend, an event organised by Ken Satoh from Mercury and Shino from Shinokouba.

After attending and drifting in this event in 2009 (part one here, part two here, me drifting here), I was surprised to see how massive it has become recently.

For now, enjoy this video of the first few laps and an interesting red-flag incident of the N2-class race.

WHEELS ARE ON BACKWARDS: Koguchi’s JZX100 at Sugo Speedway

By in 13-05-2010 4:37 pm

Here’s one from back when Koguchi was campaigning a JZX100 Chaser in D1SL.

Right at the end of the qualifying and practice day at Sugo Speedway, he managed to break the left rear suspension on the second corner.  Since it was close to the end of the day, there was no time to send out a recovery truck, so he just parked it on the grass, hopped the fence and walked back to the pits!

AUTO SALON WEEK IS OVER: Here are some not very nice pictures

By in 22-01-2010 8:37 pm

The 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon week is over. I’ve spent the last week with the Autosalon magazine guys from Australia, as well as the tour group they brought with them. To see a bit of what we got up to, have a look at Charles Kha’s blog and photographer Mark Pakula’s blog.

So why am I posting pics of a mashed-up Cresta instead of some pics I took? A couple of days ago, there was an Ikaten competition at Okegawa Sports Land held by Drift Tengoku video. Okegawa is actually the closest circuit to my house, so of course I sent in an entry to appear in the segment. Unfortunately, there are a hell of a lot of drivers and teams in my local area, and I would have had to work anyway. Never mind.

TOCHIGI BAKA MATSURI 2010: Just a few pics this time

By in 04-01-2010 3:20 am

Tochigi Idiot Festival! Sounds like the perfect name for an event like this. I was all set to enter this year’s Tochigi Baka Matsuri, but my car is currently not in the best of states. Ever heard a 1JZ idle like a ported rotary? More on that later. As a result, I had to travel up to Nikko by public transport, which didn’t take too long, but didn’t exactly motivate me to get out of bed too early. That means that I didn’t arrive until fairly late, so I only took a few pics at the end of the event.

If you haven’t already seen them, make sure you have a look at the part one and part two articles of last year’s event, since they contain a lot more photos and give a much better idea of the event.

Here’s Watanabe-san from Tommy Factory doing his best bosozoku hakonori (window riding).
