ONE OWNER, NEVER BEEN COVERED IN SALT WATER: Tsunami GT-R
November 26, 2011 12:41 amThis GT-R survived a natural disaster.
このGT-Rは仙台県津波の生残者です!
Back in April after the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, I went up to Ebisu Circuit to give Andy from Powervehicles a little hand in getting their garages back in order after most of them quite literally fell down a cliff. On one day, we stopped by RGF, and I saw this GT-R out in the parking lot, sitting there with the doors open.
It turned out that it had been caught up in the tsunami. When I say “caught up”, I mean submerged in seawater from tyres to roof! Look at that corrosion on the mild steel parts!
The owner thankfully survived the tsunami, and brought the car to RGF to be fixed. Before this, the entire engine bay had apparently been full of dirt and weeds.
The body got out of it pretty lightly, with only a few dents and scratches.
I think he’s going to need a new ECU though!
Back at Ebisu Circuit, Kumakubo was at the wheels of his 1000hp Tean Orange steamroller, fixing some bits of the track after it had been damaged in the ‘quake.

Keep going strong
that’s real love for a car, wonder if the owner is gonna take the chance to do a crazy paint color or something.
Poor Sky, I can adopt it 🙂
This is pretty awesome, to see people staying busy during recovery. Nothing helps ease the pain, I feel, like rolling up your sleeves. And just think of the pride the owner of that GTR will feel when he tells people that it survived the tsunami. Silver linings can be found just about anywhere.
Oh man, sappy pun sense tingling. Siliver lining… silver skyline… no no, I mustn’t.
Ganbare, and carry on. :3
nice to see Kumakubo rolling up his sleeves and mucking down to get everything operational again. Lots of other drivers around the world that could take a leaf/whole tree out of his book!
Poor GTR 🙁 good thing it made it xD!
and hahahahaha “Tean Orange steamroller” LOL
que desastre el que ocurrio en japon, aqui en chile ocurrio lo mismo…como dice Jay: siempre fuertes!!!!! saludos…algun dia nos veremos en japon xD
