For this year’s D1SL season, D1 Corporation has started a separate parallel series just for girl drifters called the “Venus Challenge”.
The name might sound a bit silly, but the driving skills at the pointy end of the field are not.
I’ll have more on that in another post, but when I put up some stuff about Hibino yesterday, it reminded me to put up some pics of one of the Venus Challenge drivers in particular.

I noticed something odd while walking near my house a little while ago. It was a bit hard to see from the street, but the shape of the rear fender was unmistakable.
After a quick check to see that nobody was at home, I snuck up the driveway for a look.

I heard a rumour the day before yesterday from a friend who lives down in Kansai that drifting pioneer Atsushi Kuroi had somehow died. I didn’t want to say anything on here just in case it wasn’t true.
Unfortunately, the news was confirmed yesterday on Kuroi’s Mixi (Japanese Facebook) by his wife. He had died from massive injury after a scooter accident.
Rather than just post a single pic with a few standard words of condolence below it, I thought I’d go back through my archives and post up the best Kuroi photos I had as a tribute.
