I’m mainly putting this in its own post because as an Australian and a former rotary owner, I find this car absolutely hilarious.
It’s a Mazda Roadpacer AP, which is Mazda Japan’s version of one of the most Australian cars there is, the Holden HJ Premier.
The funny thing is, if you tried putting a rotary in a Holden in Australia, you’d probably receive horrible death threats at best.

A couple of days ago, some rotary freaks from Belgium sent me an email asking for information about this Mazda Famila, with a photo taken by Ben from Japanese Nostalgic Car attached to it.
“Didn’t I already post a few pics of that car already?” I thought.
Sure enough, I’d posted about the Euro and American cars at the 2009 Time Machine Festival, and I’d definitely posted about the Fairladys that were there, as well as a put up a panorama photo of the meeting, but I’d completely forgotten to upload the rest of the photos I took!
So, here they are!

As we saw in this post a couple of weeks ago, the first corner at Bihoku can be a bit dodgy if you mess it up.
I’d probably be hard on the brakes at this point too.

Before you click on the “read the rest” link just below this text, take a second to think of what subject the next photos might be about.
A patch of sawdust usually means spilled oil, but have another look at where it is.

It’s not too surprising if you’ve never heard of Fujita Engineering. Unlike one of the other big rotary tuners in Japan that is constantly exposed to the general public, Fujita really only concentrates on the people that matter; rotary owners.

So here’s what happened.
A train of missile cars in an Expert Class session, led by D1 drivers Daigo Saito and Yukio Matsui, drifted into the first corner at Okegawa Circuit, a small go-kart-style track in Saitama Prefecture. The S13 driver, who was at the back of the group, came in a little bit too hot and was unable to see a stationary Mazda that had spun out just moments before. I’ll let the following pictures speak for themselves.
