RED TO RED, BLUE TO BLUE, GREEN TO GREEN: Wiring Magician

This S14 belongs to Ohana from Team Magician. It returned to the pits at Nikko Circuit with an extremely lumpily-running engine and wafts of smoke coming from under the bonnet.

It turned out the wiring harness started melting, which caused the engine to stop running well, fortunately preventing any further damage.

Fixing a wiring harness is irritating and time consuming, but at least it’s usually pretty straightforward.

They were there for about another hour with a couple of rolls of electrical tape and a roll of aluminium insulating tape, but he managed to get back out on the track.

trackside repairs are always the most impressive. it reminds me of a time a friend stripped a gear, so he had a friend pick up a spare transmission and they did the swap right there! i was in awe. for a custom car like this one, i’d expect the guy is pretty familiar with his setup, so that probably helps
