DRIFTING A PORSCHE IN THE RAIN: That is, drifting a Porsche in the rain and not spinning out

To those who commented on the Facebook page and those who thought it couldn’t be done, here’s the video.

At a private Porsche-only drift school run by Ken Satoh from Mercury at Minami Chiba Circuit the other day, D1 driver Tetsuya Hibino took out one of the students’ cars to show how it’s done. I might add that this was only his second lap in this car!

    Dear Alexi,
Not to boss you around or anything, but the above photo of Mr. Natural using the driver’s window of a Porsche as a windscreen needs to be a wallpaper. Even if it’s a bit blurry, it’s a very sweet photo.
    Sincerely,
    Nathan.

Great! His driving style is super conservative, which it would have to be under the circumstances.

such a beautiful car! and that’s some pretty smooth drifting, colour me impressed!

I don’t know why anyone would doubt its ability to go sideways.

lol at above. Porsche’s are rear engined? maybe thats one reason.

early ones with semi trailing arm suspenion are notorisouly snappy on the limit.

wow that steering angle looks even worse than a stock FD. he did a good job though

Sliding a 911 even in the dry is pretty straightforward. The lift of oversteer snap on entry is better than any handbrake. In the dry you need lots of torques to keep it going and yes the lock is very marginal.
