SAWDUST: Crash evidence at TsukubaJanuary 31, 2009 12:30 am
Before you click on the “read the rest” link just below this text, take a second to think of what subject the next photos might be about.
A patch of sawdust usually means spilled oil, but have another look at where it is.
If you’ve just said “Oooooh” in your head, that’s exactly what I thought when I came across this FD RX-7 sitting just inside the gates at Tsukuba Circuit.
The driver was unlucky enough to hit the pit-in wall perfectly square on, in what was probably a case of either very late braking or very early acceleration around Tsukuba’s high-speed final corner.
Either way, the car oversteered and washed out towards the inside of the track before colliding with the barrier.
You can even see the imprint of the tread pattern of the tyres covering the end of the barrier in the door’s metal. The driver seemed to be OK, and was talking on his mobile phone next to the car when I first saw it.

at least its RHD
I was thinking the same thing. The driver is lucky.
definitely a lhd femer killer.
fark, passenger would have gotten spanked. Atleast some tiny bit of luck around that day (no passenger).
is this why we always turn left in North America? 😛
Horrible… Just horrible… ^Yes, thank goodness it’s rhd! A car like that NEED a cage with side bars!

I like that quote, dousan you hit the nail in the head. Glad he walked away.
Thanks for posting this
poor fd 🙁 looks like it was a real nice car before that
@dousan: exactly my thoughts! Maybe that’s something only people from LHD countries think when they see such pictures!
He should have some bruses on his left arm from this :O
i am without speech. that is one hell of an impact.
Jees that woulda hurt
OMG…thats crazy…FD smash!!LOL
i cant beleive he wasnt hurt, must have been doing atleast 120 when it hit
God poor FD, ohwell time to find another yahoo auctions bargin…
I wonder how fast he was going…
it will buff out.
At least the front bumper and rear spoiler looks good.
when ever i watch the race factory DVDs at mobara i cringe at how close people come to this sorta accident coming of the last corner onto the straight , didnt think id see it from tsukuba tho
Up until this, the worst I saw some guy flip his PT Cruiser (yes PT Cruiser) in the dirt area outside the final corner. Seen a lot of guys come close to this though.
haha, faaark, lucky to walk away from that
Dammmmm thats crazy! Poor FD 🙁
Tough offset on the front now.
Wow, lucky to be alive.
I still want to time attack Tsukuba.
oh damn I want a cage now.
does he wana sell the spoiler
i feel sorry for the car man,
not the driver, hAha!!
He was probably on the phone ordering a new FD haha, im guessing he”ll be ticking the “Do you want a roll cage installed” box this time round.
Should have had a rollcage. And not a pretender bolt in, but a proper weld in. Would have still been a writeoff though with that kinda damage.
