YOU DRIFT LIKE A GIRL: Nikko Queen 2009

By in 20-04-2009 12:30 am

I’m not going to bother doing a big event report on this year’s Nikko Queen event, since a lot of the stuff I shot would be more fun as part of a few mini-features, so look forward to those.

Just to get the formalities out of the way though, here are the ladies who placed in the Expert Class competition!

First Place was Akari Nagasawa. It’s rare to see anyone drive Nikko Circuit’s first corner as neatly and consistently as she did all day. A quick flick in, stomp on the brakes to settle the car and full acceleration right out wide towards the judging stand with not a single bit of visible handbrake correction.

I have something new to try next time I drive at Nikko, I think…

Keep in mind, her boyfriend is D1 Street Legal driver Hideyuki Fujino, so you can imagine the sort of conversations that go on between those two.

NAGOYA GYARU DORI: Michiko’s S14 Silvia

By in 24-03-2009 12:30 am

When I lived in Australia, I used to help run a drift club (www.initialdrift.com.au) that put on track days about once a month. The circuit we used most of the time was no more than an hour’s drive away from most people in Sydney, yet you’d still hear the occasional whinger complain about the distance.

This S14 Silvia belongs to a girl named Michiko. She drove about 500km/310 miles from Nagoya to Utsunomiya to drift at Nikko Circuit, then drove back home the same day.

FAMOUS PEOPLE: I met them

By in 06-03-2009 4:02 am

I don’t want to seem like one of those people who tries to be cool by standing next to famous people and showing photos, but I can’t help it. This is Japan, and meeting these people is why I came here.

The D1 driver I’ve known for the longest time, Tsuyoshi Tezuka at Kids Heart.

That’s what I look like, by the way. I know I haven’t put a picture of me on this blog yet. Shattered your illusions, did it? Or were they confirmed? You tell me.

WEEKEND EDITION: 21st December 2008

By in 21-12-2008 12:30 am

Took the ‘Line to Fuji Speedway yesterday for an event held by Himawari Racing, which meant taking a photo of the car with the mountain. I remember Tsuyoshi Tezuka showing me a photo on his phone a couple of years ago of his daily driver Toyota Soarer under a cherry tree in full bloom with Fuji in the background. That photo might have to wait for another few months though.

PHOTOS OF THE YEAR 2009: Picked by the internet

By in 24-12-2009 10:31 pm

Noriyaro has been up for over a year now, and has over 300 published posts. Since I didn’t really do anything for the anniversary, I thought now would be a good time.

These aren’t the pictures that I think are the “best”. Most of my favourites were turned into wallpapers, so have a look at that section if you haven’t already.

Nope, all I did was check the server logs, and looked for the images that were accessed the most amount of times, excluding things like banners, advertising and nagivation, of course.

So here they are, in order, the most downloaded photos of the past 365 days.

Not surprisingly, the most downloaded picture ever on Noriyaro is of Mitsumori-san’s Chaser. You want to see more of this car? I know you do. More to come on that.

こんかいは、日本語もで!この20まいの写真は、今年の一番いっぱいダウンロードしましたの。だから、一番人気でしょう?

第一は、三森さんのチェイサー。かっこいいじゃない?よかったね、三森さん!

NORIYARO NEW YEAR: Holiday prize giveaway

By in 19-12-2009 10:30 pm

I’m back in Australia again for a short break until the New Year.

Unfortunately, that means there’s not going to be a whole lot of posting going on. I have a few events lined up pretty much as soon as I get back to Japan, but until then, you’re going to have to repress your Noriyaro cravings just a little a bit.

Just to keep things interesting though, I thought we should run a little competition around here…

WEEKEND EDITION: Japanese blogs, April 19th

By in 19-04-2009 6:30 am

While being everywhere at once would be a great thing as far as this site is concerned, the laws of relativity and the expressway tolls I’d rack up mean that it’s not quite possible.

So, instead of trying to bend space-time, here’s a few interesting photos collected from some local blogs.

First, here’s the R34 GT-t that Tezuka Tsuyoshi is supporting in D1SL this year.

GOODYEAR D1 TV: Alexi on Japanese television

By in 09-04-2009 12:10 am

My housemate Yoshio was just flicking around some cable TV channels, and found a show about the recent Ebisu D1 round on J-Sports channel. D1 is on television now!

It was centered around the Goodyear sponsored drivers, like Masayoshi “Bajin” Tokita, Kuniaki “Kunny” Takahashi, Tsuyoshi “Tsuyopon” Tezuka and Tomohiro Murayama.

Yep, that’s Kunny, but who’s that over on the far right staring intently at his camera screen?
