I was sent an anonymous email just now with a link to this video.
For readers who aren’t familiar with Mt Panorama Circuit in Australia, it’s a street circuit in the city of Bathurst that basically consists of some very long straights up and down a mountain, with a whole lot of turns at the top that leave very little room for error. Here’s some Youtube videos of the circuit.
During non-race periods, it’s a regular street with a 60km/h speed limit that can be accessed by the public, and is regularly patrolled by the police.
Here’s what makes it interesting. This video was obviously shot very early in the morning, and that black R34 Skyline in the video looks and sounds an awful lot like Mark Berry’s car, which will be competing in the World Time Attack Challenge being held at Eastern Creek circuit in a couple of weeks.
So, is it real or a fake viral video? Right at the end, you can see the driver leave the circuit and start driving away along the public street that leads to the circuit. You can also see a car coming the other way on Conrod Straight. All I can say is either someone is either going to have some explaining to do to the Bathurst constabulary, or is very good friends with the Mt Panorama management.
Here’s a video of Mark’s R34 at Eastern Creek. Same car? You decide.16 Comments
You’ve surely noticed the Phat Sliggity banner on the site by now, so if you still haven’t read about it, watched the trailer or ordered it yet, have a look at one of the bonus segments.
Watch my Japan-based Aussie friend Laurence as he attempts to salvage his rapidly deteriorating front bumper. It’s worth noting here that this car no longer exists. Drift cars have a hard life.11 Comments
You saw it here first!
I want to know who Shane was yelling at.
Also the backward entry feature looks pretty interesting too…13 Comments
Remember Dave and Devin, the two Canadian guys who came over here a while ago?
Canadian lad Paul Harrison sent me this video about the Calgary drift scene. Apparently, they’re due to lose their legal drift venue, which is something at an extreme level of suck. I can relate to this, since I was around since the beginning of track drifting in Sydney back in Australia, and we’re due to lose our best drift track, Oran Park, to a housing development.
Also, I’m in love with that duck-egg KE20.19 Comments
The first one was sent to me by Steve from Canada. He probably thinks I wasn’t going to post this video, because I just sent him back a “that’s nice, thanks for your email” kind of email. Language warning on this one if you’re playing it out loud somewhere. The track looks like fun. Do the guys from Seattle and Vancouver have to get a ferry over there or something? The best part of this video is when the guy in the blue 180SX hits the switchez.
The next one is Aaron Losey’s video of the Lonestarbash at Mineral Wells in Texas. It’s kind of long, but you didn’t come here because you’re busy now, did you? I like the idea of the “party circle” at the end of the run. The best part of this video is when the camera was in focus.
The best part about both these videos are Cressidas.17 Comments
