Walking from the parking lot up to the pit area in the rain after just paying a rather hefty entry fee made us doubt the effort we made to get all the way to Fuji Speedway so early in the morning.
Walking into the first pit display put aside all those doubts.

You may recall that a couple of weeks ago, I posted this panorama shot of a Z meeting at Fuji Speedway. It was at the “Time Machine Festival”, a two day event that featured decades worth of fast cars from all over the world, which ranged from daily drivers to proper race machines.
The weather was pretty nasty all day, but it was still worth walking around in the driving rain to see what had come out to play. If it wasn’t already obvious, Fairladys were out there in force, so this post is dedicated to Nissan’s Z car.

Q: How many Z’s can you fit on the front straight of Fuji Speedway?
A: Click the image to find out.

Something slightly different for today’s first pic, a Japan four-door with a chokkan muffler, which translates into English literally as “straight pipe”.

Yellow Zeds sure do look good.

Yeah, I want one too.
The Nostalgic2Days show, put on by Nostalgic Hero magazine at the Pacifico Yokohama expo hall complex was a neck-snapping display of classic Japanese steel.

JZX100, Mark II, BN Sports, 19/20 stagger.
If you’re still wondering why I didn’t take a proper camera to Auto Salon, it’s because I was helping out Charles Kha and Mark Pakula from Australia’s Autosalon magazine (no relation to the Japanese show, but related to the Australian show), so it would be a conflict of interest if I posted a whole lot of high-resolution photos. Yep, I’m a sell-out, so buy Autosalon magazine when it comes out, because the photos and design are awesome.

If you were hoping for some sort of massive coverage of this year’s Tokyo Auto Salon, prepare to be disappointed. There were already hundreds of other journalists at the event, walking around with big, expensive cameras, imagining they were the only people there from a foreign country, and giving you dirty looks when the sight of your round-eyed face spoiled their fantasy. Get over it guys, its Auto Salon. Everyone comes here.
Don’t disappoint them, go check out their coverage.
However, having a cameraphone handy meant at least a few snaps were taken. Prepare for some low-resolution goodness.

While Toyota was firing up their more prestigious Formula cars opposite the Nissan stand, the people’s favourite Skylines easily drew a crowd with the Nissan team’s comprehensive exhibition.
Even though this Hakosuka is worth about as much as a new BMW M6, there were no barriers keeping you from getting right up close. I saw at least a couple of people walk past it and brush the buckles of their backpacks against it though.
