I remember about a year ago asking Rauh Welt’s Nakai-san if he had ever seen a certain internet site’s profile that had previously been done of his shop, to which he replied “I hate computers. I never use them.”
That is one type of person. I am the other type.
I love reading, watching and listening to as much media as I possibly can. One week this year, I spent more on magazines than I did on food, and my blog RSS feed list is really too big for its own good. On the upside though, it feels like I have a personalised “Alexi magazine” delivered to my inbox every morning, full of all the stuff I like.
Since a lot of you probably have some spare time coming up these holidays, I thought I’d link up a few sites that I either regularly check or have enjoyed, and that some of you may enjoy as well.
I’m sure that a lot of people who read Noriyaro are just generally interested in Japan as well, so check out the following links. It’s definitely not a complete list of what I read and watch, rather some of the ones I think are worth looking at.
Namasensei
If you motherf**kers want to learn some motherf**cking Japanese, you’d better open your b**ch-a** eyes and watch some of the mother**king Namasensei (Mr Beer) videos if you want to learn things like nouns and grammar and how to pick up Japanese b**ches. This is the truth about what actually happens to people who go to Japan to teach English. Everyone turns into a bitter, foul-mouthed, wall-eyed alcoholic. Yoroshiku, you b**ch! I’d love to meet Namasensei, seriously.
Ken Tanaka
If all those words and things are too complicated, Ken-san’s lessons are for you, such as the How to Speak Fluent Japanese Without Saying a Word videos, featuring his very handsome assistant, Remy February. It’s a playlist, so make sure to watch the later parts. Again, this is what the large majority of foreigners in Japan actually look like.
Tokyocooney
There is some useful info in here if you were wondering about living in Japan, especially on the FYI playlist. This is what the large majority of foreigners in Japan do. Work random jobs during the week, and go and see weird and silly things on the weekend, then talk about how weird stuff is.
Jetdaisuke
There’s something strangely addictive about Jetdaisuke’s videos. “Unboxing” videos are usually lame as hell, but these are great. What other website does video reviews about pear curry and Korg samplers?
Peter Payne - J-List
You may have noticed the ads for J-List scattered around the site. The guy who runs J-List, Peter Payne, has a blog that notes lots of little cultural things that a lot of people might find interesting. Just on that subject, if you were ever thinking about buying something from J-List, make sure you click through one of the links on the site when you do. Hosting doesn’t pay for itself!
Jyoutou
Zokusha videos. That’s all you need to know.
Uncrowdedmonarch
I think this is someone from Ziptied. Anyway, there’s heaps of Option video rips.
POTENZA30Z
Do you like thrashing carburetted S30s or like to watch people thrashing carburetted S30s around Fuji Speedway? This is for you.
Japanese Nostalgic Car
Good blokes, good content.
Roadsterdrift
Rob’s site is always interesting. His Youtube channel has lots of old Option segments too, so it’s worth checking out.
Maruchannel
Robbie Nishida’s Youtube channel. Lots of stuff from both Japan and the USA.
Team Pulthermal
Lots of Japanese drift teams have their own Youtube channels, but this one just sticks out a bit, mostly because of their video named “mr.chiba Headstand wonderful skill”.
MSC Challenge
The MSC series’ channel.
Bowls LA 2 Wheel Division
I’ve been meaning to get a Zoomer for a while now, but drift tyres and gas just seems to make a lot more sense, especially now in winter. I know the Bowls guys read this blog, and I’m also sure they want to send me some stickers or t-shirts or something to rep.
Bubblevisor
Cool bike style that’s not all hipstery. He has a huge link list too, if you’re into bikes.
Hachiroku.com.au blog
The best 86 site…in the world. I have to say that, because I used to work with Garth. It’s true though.
Speed Hero
Quinn is Canadian and a weirdo.
BH World
Hate and 180SXs. Thankfully, not too much hockey.
Garage Dusty
Lots of recycled pictures, but they’re all interesting, which is good.
Ekhatch
Another environmentally-friendly recycle blog, but it’s also all good.
Joshua Herron
He makes some cool videos. I’m not posting a link to that other guy until he stops shooting weeds in slow motion.
FR Sedan
Four doors, Cressidas etc. I like it.
Rattlezasia
Japanese style is everywhere, even in Malaysia.
JDMblood
I said “everywhere” right? Even in Brunei. Only 400,000 people live in the whole country!
Bunnytooth
It’s like one of those trendy magazines with pictures of topless girls in a grassy field and photos taken at a parties with a flashgun, except it has decent cars in it.
Gangsta Original
A typical car industry guy’s blog with pictures of food he ate and hotel rooms he stayed in.
Benson Hsu
The original Sileightymania, Eh BHsu. I used to look at Bensons’ car on the internet and think about how badly I wanted to get a two-way diff. I think a lot of other people did too.
Engineeredtoslide
Nigel, stop using the damn handbrake so much.
Yuta Akaishi
You all saw that Zed, didn’t you?
Beeoneoneoh
I think I included this last time I did a bunch of links, but here it is again. For anyone who likes Datsuns that aren’t Fairladys.
Risky Devil
They do stuff in Chicago.
T2 Films
He films them doing stuff in Chicago, and other places too.
Motor Mavens
That other website is funded by a massive video game company. Motor Mavens is not. So who’s doing the better job?
HKS TV
I’ve saved the best for last. Did you know HKS has a dedicated video section of their website? Not only can you listen to what the various kinds of HKS exhausts sound like before you buy them, you can watch some in-car video of the HKS R35 GT-R GT600 being thrashed around Fuji Speedway.
Enjoy! I’ll be back soon with more original content.

I love Namasensei. He actually does help you learn, aswell as make you laugh with his drunken teaching
Thanks for the other links to, something to read when I’m Bored.
I really don’t belong on that list but thank you Alexi! I’d love to do more original content but you really don’t want to see what people in Ohio to do their cars lol! Although I did wish I had my camera yesterday at Wal Mart when I saw that rusty red Trans Am with “whore” keyed into the hood.
Thanks for the list
Ken Tanaka, makes you feel for him with the video of him calling people in the US looking for his parents. Most people think he is trying to sell something to them.
Hey mate thanks for the link!
Seeing as you’ve kindly linked to me, I guess I’d better throw up some car content rather than stupid self indulgent music reviews! Luckily I got my rims back tonight, all shiny like…
alexi, for Malaysian drift scene, check on http://www.drift.com.my/forum/portal.php and http://soulclickers.co.cc/
=)

Alexi- great list, kept me busy for nearly two days while I was sick! I gotta say though… Namasensei is probably the most ignorant thing I’ve seen all year. Yeah, I remember my first beer and I hope like hell I didn’t act like that.
thanks, man. great list. helping me kill time while warming up in between stints of working in the cold garage.
internetwise, i was actually coming to a dead end haha. thanks man, all the best

I agree Nama sensei is a must for any newbie BE ACH to Japan.
I usually browse by your blog most other days…
I should use RSS, but you know that would be too easy.
I’m a “knock and see if anyone’s home” type of guy.
@Benson
Rob is weird, because his car is/was too pretty for how he drives.
@Rattlezasia
I have your email, and I’ll respond shortly. To anyone else that has sent emails in the past couple of days, I only just arrived back in Japan, and have a drift day tomorrow, so I’ll get back to you soon.
@Russ
Yours is on my RSS reader Russ, haha.
Thanks for the shout. I’ve got NY on my RSS subscription!
