I knew it had something to do with Buddhism, I saw this sign on so much bollywood movies and stuff. As for the meaning in the West "somebody" took the sign and fucked it up like, for ever!

Sweet Toyota!

@ Warren "Whats up with the thing on the rear plate, I saw it on so much “old school” drift cars!" & Babalouie "I think the swastika was a symbol of a bosozoku gang that was the focus of an old Japanese movie called “Godspeed You! Black Emperor”. So it’s kinda a JDM rebel-biker thing."

The Japanese swastika is known as a manji, and as far it's use in Japanese culture, it is tied in with Buddhism. It represents Dharma, harmony & balance. When facing right it is the ura manji, which represents strength and intelligence. When it is facing left, as on the Chaser, it is the omote manji, which represents love and mercy. What it has to do with Boso-culture, I'm not sure. Anyway, it does not have the same meaning in Japan as it does in the west.

An expat Australian in Japan, Alexi’s living the life drifting and immersing himself in grassroots car culture over there. Last weekend, he spotted this nostalgic ride at a local drift meet at Nikko Circuit.
