HAKOSABI: Oxidized 2000GT

April 5, 2010 12:04 am Published by

I noticed something odd while walking near my house a little while ago. It was a bit hard to see from the street, but the shape of the rear fender was unmistakable.

After a quick check to see that nobody was at home, I snuck up the driveway for a look.

Sure enough, it was a four-door Skyline 2000GT!

That is to say, it used to be a Skyline 2000GT. There’s more air in the sills than there are sills, and the whole car looks like it might crumble under the force of a strong breeze.

I don’t know how long it’s been there, but there’s a fence on one side, and rather large trees growing in front and behind the car. It looks like you’d need a forklift to get it out of there. Any arborists here? How long does it take for a tree to grow that big?

At least the glass still looks OK.

man, an old Skyline that ended up like this.. its almost as seeing an old Skoda 120 around here 😀
i find these old abandoned cars interestint too.. but this is a real shame . .

Should warm up your chainsaw and do a sneak mission to free that beast. Hell of a project it’d be.

  • scott says:

sad so see things like that goin to waste

  • BlueSlug says:

:O rent a chainsaw and giv’r! man what a find… i wonder if the owner is aware of how valuable that is? i mean they probably care a certain small amount, else they wouldn’t have placed that token tarpaulin on the roof.. lol

Also if you just called a couple of mates over, moved that weird stack of white boxes out of the way, maybe you could lift up the passenger side and sort of roll it out from there? those things are fairly light, yes?

Abandoned cars are always something interesting to see, but sometimes sad. If I had that Skyline sitting at my house, I would at the very least cover it with a waterproof cover. There’s no need to let die a car that is so cool.

Couple of Zipties and “she’ll be right” !!!

P.S who won the 4door love stickers ???????????????

  • GenJi says:

    Jangles killed it
    😀

    .. and i agree with Adam . . Hell of a project it’d be

  • banpei says:

@Killua: Waterproof cover won’t help you much in the way this one was stored: the muddy ground will do much more harm than the water from above… Damp air and water will be trapped underneath the car and rust away your floorpan and sills. If you are curious what only 4 years parking in a front lawn can do with the floorpan of an AE86:

  • fameONE says:

She might need some work, but bigger miracles have happened.

  • Killua says:

@banpei: Interesting, I didn’t know that at all.

  • Boxer says:

Kevin San just ran to the bathroom

  • Chris says:

might be some meaning to it being there. maybe its his late dad’s. You never know peoples situations.

  • Adam says:

Thats saveable! I’d offer them something for it. Thats because i’m dumb and really love old skool Skylines 😉

  • dousan says:

this was one of the coolest things u showed me on my visit
pretty nice u went inside this time! haha
    too funny

  • chak says:

Thats incredible. Must have been there for at least 2 decades! Really must have been a sight to see. Maybe the owner really loves the car but just not hw we see it? Maybe even rotten, the sight of it in the morning cheers them up?

  • little boy says:
