TURN ME ON: Snap-on key holder
November 18, 2009 3:31 pmI’ve wanted to pick one of these up for a while. Snap-on makes a bunch of these key holders and shift-knobs made to look like their driver tool handles.
EDIT: I get a lot of emails asking about these. They are NO LONGER AVAILABLE new from Snap-On Japan. If you really want one, they can be found on Yahoo Auctions. Use the search string “スナップオンドライバーキーホルダー”
The instructions are all in Japanese, but that’s no problem. It’s all pretty straightforward. Cut key, insert key, tighten grub screw.
Of course, a little bit of “measure twice, cut once” never hurt anyone.
A couple of little marker lines and a grinder later…
…it’s small enough to fit.
Then it’s just a matter of tightening the grub screw with the supplied hex key. You’d think that anyone who bought one of these would probably already have a set of hex keys, but it’s still a nice touch.
That looks a lot better than a normal key! Plus, it feels nice and chunky in your fingers when you turn the ignition on.
I also picked up this nice Delrin shift knob at the same time.
